Heat Pump Water Heater

Heat Pump Water Heater

What Is a Heat Pump Water Heater and How Does It Work?

Heat pumps are systems that produce water at a lower temperature (typically 50–55°C) compared to traditional boilers. A heat pump water heater is a specialized storage unit designed to convert this low-temperature energy into usable hot water as efficiently as possible.

Primary Purpose

  • High Efficiency at Low Temperatures: To minimize wait times by rapidly transferring the energy produced by the heat pump to the water via coils with a large surface area.
  • Comfort and Continuity: To prevent any interruption in comfort, even when the heat pump switches to “defrost” mode, thanks to the stored hot water.

Key Features of FENNEX Heat Pump Water Heaters

The key features you highlight in your products—and which set you apart in the market—are as follows:

  • Expanded Heat Transfer Surface Area: Since heat pumps operate at low temperatures, the coil surface area in FENNEX water heaters is much larger than in standard water heaters. This allows the water to reach the desired temperature more quickly.
  • Bottom-Reaching Coil Design: The coil technology extends all the way to the very bottom of the tank. This ensures there is no cold water zone at the bottom of the tank, and the entire volume of water (100% capacity) is heated uniformly.
  • Single-Piece Removable Coil via Flange Cover: This is our signature feature. In the event of scaling or a malfunction, the coil’s flexible design allows it to be easily removed and reinstalled as a single unit through the flange cover. This reduces maintenance costs and extends the product’s lifespan.
  • Hygiene and Health: Thanks to uniform heating, no cold spots—which are conducive to bacterial growth (especially Legionella)—form inside the tank.
  • High Insulation: Thanks to 44 kg/m³ high-density insulation, the energy produced by the heat pump is retained inside the tank for a very long time, minimizing energy loss.

FEN-X Plus Defender: Flexible and Strong Armor for Your Water Heaters

The inner surface of our heat pump water heaters is protected by FEN-X Plus Defender—a technology that goes beyond traditional, brittle enamel coatings. This special coating is not just an insulation layer but a hybrid protection system that extends the life of your water heater.

Why FEN-X Plus Defender?

  1. Thermal Flexibility and Crack-Resistant Structure: Water heaters are constantly subjected to heating and cooling cycles. Traditional coatings can crack over time due to this expansion. Thanks to its flexible structure, FEN-X Plus Defender expands along with the metal body; it does not crack, peel, or flake off.
  • Maximum Resistance to Corrosion: Since heat pump systems operate at low temperatures, the risk of condensation and corrosion on the inner surface must be managed differently. This coating completely prevents water from coming into contact with the metal surface, effectively eliminating corrosion (rusting).
  • Smooth Inner Surface and Limescale Prevention: Defender technology creates a glass-smooth texture on the inner surface. Thanks to this texture, limescale and sediment cannot adhere to the surface. When it’s time to replace the coil, you can see for yourself just how clean the inside of the tank is.
  • Full Hygiene Standard: Thanks to its non-porous structure, it does not harbor bacteria, preserving the purity and hygienic quality of your water.
